We are a small target club who participate in HFT and target shooting. Some of our club members travel for competitions, but all of our members are enthusiastic about the shooting community and we welcome all participants whether they want to compete or just plink.
As a club we partake in the Hunter Rules South Winter League in which we normally run at least five teams throughout the winter, travelling around the central southern region for each round. Lots of banter, lots of fun!
The club is NOT FAC rated; centerfire, rimfire, black powder, overpower air rifles and other restricted weapons are not permitted in either of the ranges. All new membership applications are subject to a 3 month probationary period. If for any reason your membership is not approved, your membership fee will be refunded. Please also note that there are no storage facilities at the indoor range, no equipment is left in the ranges when not in use.
Time & Place
Our indoor and outdoor ranges (Wallops Wood – November – August) are open on Wednesday evenings from around 6:30 pm till 9:30 pm, in the winter months we only run the indoor range.
The ranges are also open on Sundays from about 10:30 am onwards (please contact before coming on a Sunday)
We also have another location at Hen Wood which comprises of a range and HFT course which is open on Sundays, all year round.
Guests are welcome at both the indoor and outdoor range.
If you are considering joining the club, please contact our club secretary (Steve Haworth) to arrange a convenient date and time for an introductory visit, contact details can be found here.
Bringing Guests on a Sunday
Meon Valley Air Gun Club fully supports and encourages current members to bring along
friends, family and interested people to show them the sport we all enjoy and hopefully
convert them into new members, but to enable us to do this properly and ensure the
safety of our members and guests are not compromised we need to establish some guidelines.
If you would like to bring someone along on a Sunday who is not a member and they have not
been to the indoor range on a Wednesday and had the safety induction, you will need
to contact a committee member to seek permission.
Guidelines for bringing guests on a Sunday
1) Only 1 guest per member.
2) Prior to bringing a guest, permission should have been granted by a committee member.
3) The committee member will need to know 1 week in advance of the date attending.
4) Prior to the guest shooting the “Range Officer” will conduct a 1 to 1 safety brief.
5) The guest must be accompanied at all times.
6) The guest must fill in their details on the guest register.
7) A guest is only permitted to shoot 1 Sunday for free.
8) If the guest would like to shot again on a Sunday they will be asked to join.
9) If several people have requested guests to attend it will be down to the discretion of
the committee member to give permission.
